Tierra Verde

Tierra Verde is a community located on an island near the entrance of Tampa Bay. It is connected by the bridges of the Pinellas Bayway to both St. Petersburg and St. Pete Beach. This community is home to the world-famous Fort Desoto park, historic fort, walking trails and pristine beaches. It is known as a popular boating community and celebrated for its waterfront views and local restaurants. The real estate in Tierra Verde is always in high demand. Not only is it beautiful, it is also convenient to the surrounding area. A ten-minute drive will get you to some of the top beaches of the world in one direction and a ten-minute drive in the other direction takes you to the eclectic downtown scene of St. Petersburg. Twenty minutes north and you are in the heart of Tampa and twenty minutes south gets you over the infamous Skyway Bridge and on your way to Sarasota. Fort Desoto Park can be found at the tail end of Tierra Verde. Fort Desoto is 1,136 acres of award-winning Gulf beaches spanning across five islands. The list of activities here is long: a historic fort, three miles of beach, two fishing piers (one on the bay, one on the Gulf), a dog beach, a 6.8-mile-long paved recreational trail, a large camping area, and bike, kayak and canoe rentals. From Fort De Soto, take a ferry to Egmont Key State Park, an uninhabited (unless you count the scores of gopher tortoises and seabirds) barrier island at the mouth of Tampa Bay. Accessible only by boat, Egmont serves primarily as a wildlife refuge. A lighthouse that has stood since 1858 still guides ships past this island. Wander among building ruins and weed-strewn red brick roads. Then head to the water for swimming, fishing, shelling, and snorkeling.
